If you’ve been following my blog you know that each month I post a new free crochet pattern in the Chameleon Hat Series. The Chameleon challenge started early this year when I designed a basic beanie for Valentine’s Day and then modified it for an Olympic theme. I wondered if I could take the same basic pattern and make small changes to modify it each month for an ever changing look and theme – hence the name Chameleon. Well 11 months later I’m happy to say it has been a fun and challenging experience!
With December quickly approaching, it’s time to come up with the final design in the series. I thought it would be fun to give the viewers (that’s all of you!) an opportunity to weigh in with suggestions, so please comment with your ideas for a December Chameleon Hat (What should it look like? What should it be named?) and then keep an eye out for the release in early December to see if your idea won!Â
In the meantime, take a stroll down memory lane for the past 11 months of Chameleon Hats and check out the links to the free patterns here!
The journey started in January and February with an Olympic Spirt hat designed with the US Olympic team in mind and a cute little heart hat With Love for Valentine’s day.
March brought a lucky Pot ‘o Gold and rainbow and April inspired Spring Fling
May Flowers came in two views, a playful garden of flowers designed with kids in mind  and a more refined version too!
The summer kicked in with Gone Fishin’ in June and Red, White and Blue, full of patriotic pride debuted in JulyÂ
The end of summer came with a Splish Splash in August and Friendly Skies in September
October offered two versions of Patches with two options for trick or treat fun!
And here we are in November with Harvest Gold…..What would you like to see for December?
I hope you’ve enjoyed looking back at the Chameleon Hat series and enjoyed making them too!

Anything holiday, Christmas tree? Candy cane? Gingerbread man, holly?
cookies!
The hat designs are lovely.
I love the idea of something that revolves around what I believe to be the true meaning of Christmas, our Savior Jesus Christ. While I love the other suggestions too, I believe maybe something that is more aligned with the baby Jesus or the Nativity. Perhaps a star at the top and maybe the baby Jesus in a manger applique.
I’d love to see a snowman or snowflakes. Great job on the series!
How about a Elfish Hat? for Santa’s elves or even Santa himself….
sort of like the name ‘elfish’, though that may be my morning coffee talking. :>)
I always like seeing holly and poinsettias at Christmas. And the deeper richer colors: hunter green, burgundy or deep crimson, cream, gold.
