Simple Scarf & Glove Set Courtesy of Christine Bittner About 2 years ago, my daughter asked me to teach her to crochet and then knit. I taught her the basics and held her hand through a few projects and then she was off on her own, exploring and learning new techniques. I was amazed at how quickly she learned different skills and soon she was following pretty complex patterns. As we talked about it recently, she commented that she wished there had been more fun, yet simple projects when … [Read more...] about Free Crochet Pattern: Simple Scarf & Gloves Set

Free Crochet Pattern: Spangle Wrap Super Scarf
Spangle Wrap Super Scarf A month or so ago, I received this lovely, sparkly metallic yarn from Premiere Yarns. I was pretty excited as I don't often work with novelty yarns and this one had just the right amount of glitz and glamour for the holiday season and, it was in rich shades of purple, which is my favorite color! I knew I wanted to make an elegant, dressy and lacy wrap / super scarf to wear to holiday parties and such. Although I wanted lace, I wanted a more updated lace rather than the … [Read more...] about Free Crochet Pattern: Spangle Wrap Super Scarf
Free Crochet Pattern: Autumn Sunset Super Scarf
Autumn Sunset Super Scarf The Super Scarf craze continues! I made this one in a more open lacy stitch using Red Hearts Unforgettable in Stained Glass. I love that the stitch combination makes for a less dense scarf which allows for less bulky wraps, while still providing ample warmth. The stitch is an easy 4 row repeat which becomes intuitive after a couple of repeats. I made this scarf a very generous 15" wide by 96" long (not including fringe) but it is easily adjusted up or down for your … [Read more...] about Free Crochet Pattern: Autumn Sunset Super Scarf
Crochet Pattern: Aspen Cowl
Aspen Cowl It's that time of year when a nice lacy cowl is the perfect fashion accessory -- just a little added warmth around the neck, without too much bulk. The Aspen Cowl is so pretty in a worsted wool blend (I used Knit Picks Chroma in the color Sandpiper). I love the subtle muted color transitions in the striping. I wanted something that wasn't totally solid but still provided substantial warmth and this stitch pattern does just that. I added buttons for easy on / off … [Read more...] about Crochet Pattern: Aspen Cowl

There are so many different configurations for wearing this wrap and I love the fun filet crochet section at the points too. Free Crochet Pattern: Dragonfly Bandana Cowl
Dragonfly Bandana Cowl This Dragonfly Bandana Cowl, as pictured, is made with just one skein of this beautiful Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable yarn, but the pattern can easily be adapted into a full-sized shawl. (Instructions for this can be found near the end of the pattern.) I estimate 3 - 4 skeins will be needed for a shawl. I've heard that this yarn can be hard to frog (pull out stitches) when a mistake is made. Due to the way the yarn is twisted, Red … [Read more...] about Free Crochet Pattern: Dragonfly Bandana Cowl
Crochet Pattern: Evening Shimmer Wrap
. Evening Shimmer Wrap Buy the pattern in my Ravelry shop for 30% off through 3/5/16, with coupon code: SHIMMER30 I made this Evening Shimmer Wrap to wear to a wedding over a sleeveless dress  that I felt was just a little too exposed. This little wrap, with the addition of the brooch, was just the right amount of coverage and elegance. I used a silver metallic yarn that worked up pretty fast and I added a bit of "bling" with silver and crystal beads at the hemline. … [Read more...] about Crochet Pattern: Evening Shimmer Wrap
