Dragonfly Bandana Cowl
This Dragonfly Bandana Cowl, as pictured, is made with just one skein of this beautiful Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable yarn, but the pattern can easily be adapted into a full-sized shawl. (Instructions for this can be found near the end of the pattern.) I estimate 3 –Â 4 skeins will be needed for a shawl.
I’ve heard that this yarn can be hard to frog (pull out stitches) when a mistake is made. Due to the way the yarn is twisted, Red Heart recommends working from the outside of the skein, or re-winding into a center-pull cake. This will make frogging easier, if needed. I actually made several mistakes while working up my cowl and had no trouble at all pulling out the stitches to correct them. I really enjoyed working with this yarn and am already thinking of my next design to make in Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable.

My shawl turned out great but I’m disappointed with the ties. Should they have been for the bandana only? My shawl fits me fine but the ties are too short. I thought the shawl would be crisscrossed in front and the ties would go to the back but mine aren’t long enough. I don’t think I can remove them without having to take apart rows 25 and 26. HELP!
You are correct, rows 25 and 26 are for the bandana version only. For the shawl you can end after row 24 or for a more finished edge, crochet a row of sc across the top (without the ch21)
I am confused about rows 25 & 26. Where are the border instructions. I don’t understand how row 25 begins from row 24. Please help
Row 25 starts by crocheting chains after you complete Row 24, you then work in those chains as indicated and across the top of the bandana cowl this creates the tie on one side and another row along the top of the piece. Then, Row 26 does the same thing on the other side. I think if you take each instruction one step at a time, you will see how it evolves.
I LOVE THIS PATTERN!But when I used the stained glass yarn, it is much less vibrant….. did you cut out the more somber colors? It’s perplexing me!
No I didn’t cut anything out, perhaps different dyelots have different vibrancy.
I love the pattern, thank you!
