On a personal note, I cut my crocheting teeth on Red Heart yarn. Of course, back then the variety of yarn choices were somewhat limited, but today it seems they are never ending. One of my favorite yarns is Red Heart Soft and I’ve made many projects using this fun, colorful, versatile yarn. It’s easy to work with, produces a good finished product and is easy to care for too!

I love Red Heart Yarn, I buy Aunt Lydia crochet cotton, and this Christmas I received my new Susan Bates Needles, The needles I have now, I’m not sure what brand they are, they were my Mother’s and she gave me some when I started Knitting as a young girl.

I am in the process of working with teens that have behavioral problems by teaching them how to crochet and arm knit. It helps to calm their minds and give them something productive to work on and to keep them busy. It is a rewarding challenge. But, I always give them a hook and a skein of yarn to begin with. This would go a long way in redirecting their energies to making something lovely that they can then show their friends how to make.
