Welcome to Week 3 and Part 2 of our Sweater!
This week we will be working on Part 2 of My Favorite Waterfall Sweater. Hopefully, you’ve gotten through Part 1 with no problems and now you are ready for the upper part of the sweater and the collar. If you are making the sleeved version, you will add those too and if you are working the vest, you will have a simple finish to the armholes to complete.
My Favorite Waterfall Cardi can be made as a cardigan with a 3/4 length sleeve or as a vest.
The sweater is worked bottom up as a basic rectangle, with openings for the sleeves. The body of the sweater is a pleasant, easy lace repeat. The collar is a rolled over “waterfall” and I’ve added a bit of a rib like texture to both the collar and the sleeve cuff for a little personality.
One of my favorite things about this sweater is the collar. It can be worn open and loose, like a flowing waterfall, or for a more tailored look, pull it across the chest and hold it in place with either a shawl pin or a strategically placed button. This is a great place to use one of my Button Toggles – you can find a tutorial HERE.
This sweater was a lot of fun to make but even more fun to photograph! Two of my friends volunteered to model for me. I think these two are the perfect models because they are both fantastic mothers (and this is a Mother’s Day CAL after all), and they are both beautiful and most importantly, they are FUN and we had lots of fun at the photo session!
Whether you choose the vest
or, the sleeved cardigan
I think you will enjoy this sweater over and over again!
Thank you to our sponsor Premier Yarns, for providing the yarn for this project. I used Premier Chamonix and Premier Cotton Fair for my samples.
Chamonix yarn is a #2 fingering weight in an acrylic, angora and mohair blend available in 13 beautiful colors. This yarn has a nice feel and is pleasant to work with and it gives the finished garment a luxurious look.
Cotton Fair is a #2 fingering weight acrylic/cotton blend in 14 solid and variegated colors. I’ve used this yarn several times before and love working with it. It has the cool feel and drape of a cotton but with the convenience and easy care of acrylic that makes it a perfect choice for year-round wear. The yarn has great stitch definition and a soft sheen too.
Don’t Forget to take advantage of the yarn discount, courtesy of Premier Yarns!
Premier Yarns is offering 10% off through 4/30 with my special
