It’s finally here! Our Spring Showers Shawl CAL has started! Woo hoo!! Part 1 will take you through row 19. The shawl starts out with a circle motif that morfs into the triangle shape as you add rows. Be sure to pay attention to stitch and chain counts because if you don’t establish the base correctly, the rest of the rows won’t work out 🙂 Be sure to join us in the Pattern Paradise Crochet Community for the crochet along and for a chance to win prizes (see the details below)!
The yarn I used for the grey ombre shawl was a custom dyed gradient made for Pattern Paradise by Katy from KT & The Squid. Katy is offering her gradient sets at 10% off through the end of April with the coupon code SPRING SHOWERS, CLICK HERE to see her current collection.
I thought it would be fun to try this pattern in a lighter yarn for the summer too, and so I made it up in a linen blend yarn that I love as well! Really, I think it would look great in almost any DK weight yarn. You could also play with different weights, but of course, that would result in different sizing and I haven’t tested that.
Click HERE for some alternative yarn suggestions for this shawl, available through Deramores. Their prices are reasonable and shipping is quick and often free!

Hello! Love your pattern! I was wondering though if you HAD to give it a gauge, what it would be? I really hope you are able to answer this despite how long it’s been since you published the pattern, because I am obsessed with it, but am trying to make it larger as it’s original size isn’t my preference. I did my research on resizing patterns but I still ended up with it being too small. Thank you so much!
Thank you! I’m sorry, but other than the gauge checkpoints along the way, I did not track a specific gauge as it would have been too difficult with the different stitches and design elements.
I am from the UK so had to get used to using US terms but after I had got my head around it was fine, all be it with a few false starts when I went into Auto pilot. This is a lovely pattern. I find the check at the end of each row very helpful. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your note and nice comments 🙂
Hello! I’m a little late to the party, and I’m having a hard time getting the amount of stitches right for row 15. I end up too short of the point with the ch6/ch3 combinations. I tried adding an extra repeat but that didn’t help either. Any ideas?
I’m not sure. Are you working everything in the [ ] the amount of times indicated? I would just take it one step at a time slowly to see where you are missing a stitch.
I signed up for your Newsletter. I was trying to make your Spring Showers Shawl but the pattern keeps moving after a minute off the pattern 😡
The pattern was offered for free on my website over a 3 week period. Here is the link where you can find each of the parts.

Thank you for your beautiful pattern that is very well written. I am not an expert crocheter, however I believe there is a missed stitch in row 9. After you do the point, ch 1, dc in ch 1 sp, ch 1 (I think you should have… skip next dc…), then repeat…, I did that the first time I did the row and the counts were correct, followed it exactly for row 20 and I was off by a stitch. thanks
You are absolutely correct, thank you for letting me know, I will make the correction.
Hi! I’m Kaori in Japan.
I want this for summer using 2.5mm hook.
So this will be smaller than regular one. But I want to make bigger same as regular.
I know it will be changed the patterns, but if I’m permitted which row is able to repeat?
Tell me please.
If I’m not permitted please ignore me.
Thanks.
I have not tested any of the rows as a repeat. You could try repeating an entire section such as rows 20 – 30 but again, I have not tried it.
Thank you very much!
I will try it!
Round 5- I’ve done the repeat once, so I’m at the second SC in a chain 2… and that puts me at the repeat but there are only 2 doubles just before the point… not 3 in the previous round… so, how does the point work on round 5?
Please join the Pattern Paradise Crochet Community while we run the CAL. It’s a great place to ask questions and get help.
Row 3 reads the following: beginning of the row
sc in next ch2 sp, I am confused next is ch 1 space.
Yes, that was a typo and has been corrected, thanks for letting me know 🙂
Hi Maria!
Beautiful pattern, thank you so much for sharing it with all of us!!!!
I’m just starting and have a question on Rd. 3…
It says “Turn, sl st across to ch2 sp, [ch3, dc, ch2, 2dc] in first ch2 sp, ch2, sc in next ch2 sp”…my next ch2 space is the center point…I have 2 chain 1 spaces next, then my chain 2(center)…I’m sorry, I’m confused- could you please help?😁 Thank you so much!!!!
Yes, there was a typo, it should be next ch1 space. I’ve corrected the pattern so please take another look.
