I love baby booties. I think little feet look so adorable wrapped in “yarny” warmth. This crochet pattern is easy to make and available in three different sizes from newborn to 12 months. I added a strap and button so you can adjust the fit. They don’t take much yarn so they are great to work through your leftover balls.
You can trim them in a contrasting color yarn and add a decorative bow button for a sweet little girl look. They are great for both boys and girls and don’t use up much yarn so make them in lots of different colors.
Or add some furrylicious fake fur for that Uggs look. Isn’t the monkey button cute?

Do you have a video for making these booties? Thank you Terry
No, sorry, not at this time.
These turned out awesome for me! Thank you so much! 😊
I can not understand the pattern for right and left shoe. You want us to chain stitches, but not use them as you say they are for attaching a button. We start out with 19 and when we turn and go around you say we have 24 stitches Where do you come up with the extra stitches.? If we make a buttonhole tab then how would use this chain on the back? I’m totally confused.
I’m sorry you are having trouble. I think if you take one step at a time, it will become clearer.
I assume you are making the newborn based on the stitch counts you refer to, so here it goes:
Row 6 you have 19 stitches.
Row 7 has you working in each of those stitches then adding 6 chains at the end.
Row 8 has you turning and working a sc starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, so that means you will be working 5 sc + the 19 stitches you had originally, that’s your 24.
As for the buttonhole tab, you are working a chain, then sl st in each chain starting with the second one from the hook. Then you will chain 6 more which will eventually form the buttonhole loop, now work a slip stitch on the opposite side of the beginning chain where you worked the first 8 sl sts. Basically you will have a chain with sl sts on each side and a loop of 6 chains at the end that is your buttonhole.
I hope this helps.
I”m confused. I have finished the “sides” portion and moving on to the right/left. What do you mean by the “right” side and “wrong side” I assume the “inside – the part that runs from your big toe to heel” would be the wrong side and the part that would run from your pinky toe to the heel would be the right… Is that correct? If that is the case and I start the right shoe with the RIGHT (outside) facing me and the left shoe with the WRONG (inside) facing me…that puts the “flap/opening” on the same side on both shoes….
No in this case right side refers to the outside or public side of the bootie and wrong side refers to the inside of the bootie. I’ve gone ahead and changed the language on the pattern in the hopes of making it clearer. Thanks for your note.
Can these be made in toddler size for a two and three years old. If so how do I start out. Please thanks
This is the only sizing I have at this time.
In your Abbreviations, gdc2tog s/b hdc2tog.
Could you help me on attaching the soles what does it mean whhen you say attach in center back and how do i keep the slip stitches in this way
Yes, I’ll try. The center back is the narrower side of the sole – as if you were looking at the sole of a shoe, the front section (toes) will be wider than the back (heel). As for the slip stitches, you will be working them through both pieces of the soles so that in effect you are “sewing” them together. I hope this helps.
Hiya I hope you cn help me I’m getting confused lol what is the ch8 for on row 9? If you can help please msg me I would greatly appreciate it thank you very much xx
It creates the extended button/buttonhole tab.
