Slipper Socks
Only three month’s left in the X Stitch Challenge, where has this year gone? With the weather getting cooler in the northeast, I felt a new set of slipper socks was in order. These are great for hanging out in or sleeping in too if your feet get cold during the night. Now if you’ve never made socks, don’t be intimidated, these are super easy and my testers were amazed at how quickly they work up, one even said she made a pair in under an hour! I designed the pattern in a US Women’s size 8-9, but it’s really easy to adjust for bigger or smaller feet. Take your time and count when you make the gusset and the rest is a breeze! Don’t forget Christmas is around the corner and these would make cute Christmas gifts too!

I designed this pattern using the modified X stitch but you can use the traditional one if you prefer. Of course you can make them in solid colors, but I like the stripe because it’s a little brighter and I feel shows off the X Stitch better. All I did for the striping effect was work the X Stitch rows in a contrasting color. Try working each row in a different color and make this a stash buster too!
I used Red Heart Super Saver for these slippers. I love the color range of this line plus it’s super thick for warmth and will take some wear and tear too!
Don’t you just love all the colors?

I’m sorry if I missed this information, but I would like to increase the size to a women’s size 11 and a men’s size 10. Can you please tell me? I’m still a newbie. Thanks!! 🙂
The guidelines are provided in the pattern. You would have to make another round of increases and make more rows in the foot to accommodate the size.
I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong! The stitch count through round 4 are perfect, then on round 5 the cross stitch round, I end up withi 18 cross stitch instead of 16! Please help what did I do? I’m making these for Christmas 2015 and its only 4 days away! I hope you can tell me what I’m doing wrong so I can continue. Thank you! Sign me confused!
LOL, I’m not sure what you are doing wrong since I’m not watching 🙂
However, if I had to guess, you are probably adding extra stitches at the beginning and end of the cross stitches.
When you start round 5, you are using the join and the first dc to the right as the first X stitch, then you should have 30 remaining stitches to work the remaining 15 X stitches. It’s easy to add an extra set at the beginning and end because of the overlap of the join. I hope that helps.
OMG! I saw these & HAD to make them…right away! I LOVE them! I chose to make them in grey/pink color combo & did a reverse sc around the top instead of just a regular sc. Will post pics later…I am also a size 7 so I removed one round like the pattern says & it fits PERFECTLY! Question though…my mom is a size 6…should the reduced size fit a 6/7? Or is there a way to make it smaller than the one reduction? Maybe a different hook size? I can’t imagine removing 2 rows of 5-7 as it looks like it would be TINY! Or maybe it wouldn’t? Any thoughts? I’d love to make these for my Mom & send them to her for Christmas so I don’t really want to send something that doesn’t fit & I can’t have her try it on!
I would try a smaller hook size. I haven’t tested that sizing, but it should work 🙂
Please feel free to post your finished pictures right to my Facebook page, I’d love to share with all my followers!
Thank you so much for this wonderful pattern!!! I love that these slipper socks are made with cotton yarn and the design is beautiful.
Maria, I’ve never made slippers. These are so darn cute, I may give it a go! Thanks for sharing.
Do you have a very very easy single crochet pattern for these socks?? Not very experienced with crochet but would love to make some socks❤️❤️Love your patterns, they are so beautiful
I’m sorry I don’t but you should be able to replace the X Stitch rows with half double crochet with good results.
