What a spectacular weekend I had. It began with the beautiful wedding of a childhood friend’s son in a picturesque Albany Country Club. How lovely to see the next generation forming loving bonds and starting lives together.
The next day we slept in, had a lovely brunch and took a leisurely drive through upstate NY. We came across a quaint farm that allowed apple picking. Minard Farms has been a family owned and operated apple orchard for more than 100 years and is located in the beautiful NY Hudson Valley. The farm has a farmers market too and they bake fresh homemade pies, doughnuts and other sweets in addition to fresh pressed apple cider and jams. There are picnic tables for an impromptu meal with the Catskill Mountains standing majestically in the background.
The experience started with a short hayride in an old fashioned wagon to the orchard
Trees were heavily laden with ripe fruit
We filled our basket to the brim with Golden, Rome, Winesap and Fiji apples, just 4 of the 16 varieties produced on the farm.
We ended the visit with roasted corn, fresh and deliciously sweet!
The views in this part of the state are always breathtaking, but especially colorful this time of year. ~Maria~
