The Southold Hat is a simple, very basic hat that allows the texture of the yarn to shine through. It’s also pretty easy to size (I’ve provided 4 sizes) and it could be applied to different yarn weights by applying the repeat concepts (increase the number of stitches in each round by 8)!
This hat is worked from the crown down and has a simple but effective border. I like this because it makes it a unisex hat that can be embellished in different ways. Try a pompom (I use this tutorial to make mine) or pretty flower to jazz it up. You cold make it in stripes or color blocks or work more repeats of the “Sides” for a slouchy look. It’s amazing to me that by making these small changes, the entire look of the hat changes.
I hope you enjoy the Southold Hat and will share your finished pictures on my Facebook page.

I love this pattern, but where are the instructions for the adult large? Thank you!
I don’t understand your question. All 4 sizes are included in the instructions. For the smaller sizes, I stop you along the way and tell you where to skip to, for the largest size you simply follow all the instructions. I hope that helps!
