This crossed DC stitch pattern can be worked over any even number of stitches.
To begin, chain 2 (does not count as a stitch). DC in the 3rd stitch of the round.
Chain 1. Working around the post of the previous stitch, DC in the first skipped stitch (same stitch as the beginning chain).
Skip the next stitch in the round. DC in the next stitch.
Chain 1. Working around the post of the previous stitch, DC in the stitch before the skipped stitch.
(Each crossed DC will share a stitch with the previous set of crossed stitches.)
When you get to the end of the round, there will be only one stitch left.
Skip the next stitch. Make the next DC in the same stitch as your beginning chain.
Chain 1. Working around the post of the previous stitch, DC in the stitch before the skipped stitch.
Slip stitch to join in the first DC of the round.
I followed the round of crossed stitches with a round of SC and worked 2 stitches into each ch-1 space only.
If you prefer, you could work 1 SC in the ch-1 space, and 1 SC between the sets of crossed stitches for a slightly different look.

Question on the double cross stitch it looks like your working in a circle but how do you end each row if your making a afghan were your doing rows not circle ?
PatternParadise says
I would start and end each row with dc in multiples of 2, example start with 2dc, work crossed stitches arcross, end with 2dc or 1dc, crossed sts, 1dc, or 4dc, crossed sts, 4dc, etc.
