This kerchief brought back memories of my youth. When we were young teenagers, my friends and I often put bandanas over our heads and tied them at the nape of the neck to keep our hair neat and out of our faces (we also thought it looked really cool – ha ha). Recently, I’ve seen this look make a comeback but in a much prettier updated way with lovely fabrics and even in crochet. My daughter likes to wear one when she’s helping me with gardening — I took this photo when she was distracted 🙂
I designed my kerchief in a lacy bobble stitch pattern with a 4 row repeat. I like bobbles because they are much easier to work than popcorn stitches but give you a similar raised look. This kerchief is a great way to practice the stitch before you commit to using it on a larger project and I’ve linked to an easy photo tutorial if you need a little help with the stitch. The kerchief is “one size fits all” but it’s super easy to make larger or smaller so you can customize it for your needs.
