Recently I was asked to design a baby gift set for a friend’s Grand Niece. This request caused me some stress. My crochet pattern design process doesn’t work on demand – generally, I’m inspired by something, THEN design! For several days I tried desperately to come up with a fitting design, with no success. Just as I’d given up hope and was stealing myself to call my friend and tell him I could not meet his request, I woke up in the middle of the night with a design idea! I quickly wrote it down, got up the next morning and tested it out. Thus, the Jasmine Baby Set was born! This is a 4 piece set which will be released in three installments, the first of which is today’s pattern for the hat and socks. The remaining pieces (a sweater and blanket) will be released over the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned 🙂
I love the fan and bobble stitch combination in a graded color scheme and it works well for both boys and girls. The set is worked in a worsted weight yarn so it works up very quickly and of course you can use any color combination or solid colors to create your heirloom. Wouldn’t this set be adorable in white for a Christening or Blessing celebration?
The pattern includes sizes from Newborn to 12 months .
I can’t wait to see your finished projects,
so feel free to share them on my Facebook page!
