The Celtic Weave Stitch is one of my favorites. It has also been referred to as the diagonal weave and interweave stitch. Whatever you call it, it creates a beautiful, thick texture that looks stunning!
As gorgeous as this stitch is, it’s not the easiest one to learn. So I hope you find this video tutorial helpful. You will also find a photo tutorial below. I hope you enjoy learning this stitch, as the resulting texture is amazing.

Photo Tutorial: Diagonal Celtic Weave in Rows
The multiples for this stitch are: 4 + 2 (+ 1 for the turning chain)
First Row of Celtic Weave:
Make an alt-ch in first stitch,
*Skip 2 stitches, FPtrc in next 2 stitches,
cross in front of the first 2 posts and FPtrc in the 2 skipped stitches*
Repeat between * until 1 stitch remains, dc in the last stitch of the row, turn.
Second Row of Celtic Weave:
Make an alt-ch in first stitch,
BPtrc in next 2 stitches,
*Skip 2 stitches, BPtrc in next 2 stitches,
cross behind the 2 posts just made and BPtrc in the 2 skipped stitches*
Repeat between * until 3 stitches remain
BPtrc in next 2 stitches, dc in last stitch, turn.
Third Row of Celtic Weave:
Make an alt-ch in first stitch,
*Skip 2 stitches, FPtrc in next 2 stitches,
*working in front of the posts just made, FPtrc in the 2 skipped stitches*
Repeat between *until 1 stitch remains, dc in last stitch, turn. Repeat second and third rows to continue pattern.
