The Peaks & Valleys Chevron Pillow is a basic chevron design with added cuteness! Mix up the colors for a striped effect or add the pretty flowers for a summery look. Of course you can make them without the flowers in a solid color and enjoy the subtle texture too!
These pillows are so easy & quick to make I often make them for gifts and love experimenting with different color combinations. To minimize the seams, I designed the fabric to be twice as long to cover back and front. For the cute little flower, see my Little Darlings flower pattern by clicking the picture below.
I used Lily Sugar n Cream for this design, but it would work well with many other yarns too, simply adjust your hook for the yarn you choose!

Repeat Rows 2 & 3, until length is 2 times the length of the pillow insert, less ½”.
Last Row: Repeat Row 2 one more time. Fasten off.
To assemble plain pillow:
1. With right sides together, match chevrons stitch for stitch and whip stitch across.
2. Working along one open side, whip stitch closed.
3. Turn pillow cover right side out, insert pillow, whip stitch the last side closed.
To assemble button side pillow:
• With right sides together, match chevrons stitch for stitch and whip stitch across. Turn pillow cover right side out.
First side:
Row 1: Join yarn on one open side, ch1, work a round of sc evenly around to end (I work 1 sc in side of each sc row and 2sc in side of each hdc row), join with sl st to first st.
Row 2: Ch2 (does not count as st), working in back loop only, dc in each st around to end, join with sl st to first st.
Row 3: Ch1, working in back loop only, sc in each st around to end, join with sl st to first st. Fasten off leaving a long tail that will be used to whip stitch the end closed. Thread yarn needle and whip stitch side closed.
Second side:
Rows 1 & 2: Join yarn on second side, repeat Rows 1 & 2 of First.
Row 3: Ch1, working in back loop only, sc in each st around to end, join with sl st to first st. Fasten off.
Sew buttons in place on bottom part of open side and use spaces between dc on top side as the buttonholes. Sew buttons in place on the opposite side (these are decorative only, not functional so you can sew them to the top.)
