A cloche with a little attitude? Yep, that’s what the Colorscape Cloche Hat has, a little attitude! Beanies and slouches are wonderful, but sometimes you need or want something a little more sophisticated….enter the cloche. It fits kind of like a beanie, but has a little bit of a brim and some flair at the band and this one puts on the charm with a sassy bow too! The pattern is available in two sizes, child and adult.
The texture in this hat is due to a simple two row repeat that I’m just loving and the colorwork is all courtesy of the yarn! I used Red Heart Colorscape Yarn in the color Bangkok. I really enjoyed this yarn. It’s a #4 worsted acrylic, but it worked up more like a light bulky. The specs call for a 5.5 mm hook, but I went with something bigger for a bit more drape and softness. The hat worked up super quick too! I love the color transitions in the yarn too. I used Bangkok and while it has a rich Autumn feel, it’s not the more common oranges and reds we are used to seeing.
Red Heart has a nice selection of new yarns this season.

With right side of bow facing you, pinch center of bow in center; take a long piece of yarn and leaving about 6” 6”, wrap center of bow (where you pinched it) tightly to make the “knot” of the bow. Cut the yarn leaving a 6” tail. Tie two tails together tightly to secure. I use the tails to sew the bow in place.

Hi!
I just started working on the adult version of the cloche and am getting a stitch count higher than you 40 on round 5. I frogged it and again the same thing. I forget now how much it was, something like 46 or 48. What am I doing wrong?

Not seeing your work it is difficult to say, but if I had to guess, it would be that you are doing a second sc in the second half of the instruction too — the 2nd sc is only applicable in the first part.
