I hope you are having fun with last week’s section of the Spring Showers Shawl. Today, I’ll take you from rows 20 to 30. It’s only 10 rows, but the shawl is getting wider, so it’s about the same amount of crocheting.
Be sure to join us in the Pattern Paradise Crochet Community for the crochet along and for a chance to win prizes (see the details below)!
The yarn I used for the grey ombre shawl was a custom dyed gradient made for Pattern Paradise by Katy from KT & The Squid. Katy is offering her gradient sets at 10% off through the end of April with the coupon code SPRING SHOWERS, CLICK HERE to see her current collection.
I thought it would be fun to try this pattern in a lighter yarn for the summer too, and so I made it up in a linen blend yarn that I love as well! Really, I think it would look great in almost any DK weight yarn. You could also play with different weights, but of course, that would result in different sizing and I haven’t tested that.
Click HERE for some alternative yarn suggestions for this shawl, available through Deramores. Their prices are reasonable and shipping is quick and often free!

Spring Showers Shawl Rows 20 to 30
Size: 54” wingspan x 26”
Materials
Yarn:
- The grey ombre sample was made with 3 colors, one ball of each (246 yards/224 meters in each 100g ball). I used KT and the Squid Everyday DK Superwash Merino (100% merino wool) in the colorway Spring Showers Grey
- The green sample was made with Knit Picks Lindy Chain, colorway Sagebrush, 3 balls, 70% linen, 30% flax, (180 yards/165 meters in each 50g ball)
Other Supplies
- Tapestry Needle: You will need this to weave in ends.
- Scissors and tape measure to trim yarn and check measurements.
- I recommend blocking your shawl, and these are my favorite blocking mats.
Gauge: Gauge is not critical in this pattern but I have added checkpoint at various points in the pattern.
Abbreviations:
ch: chain
dc: double crochet
sc: single crochet
sl st: slip stitch
sp: space
st(s): stitch(es)
tr: treble crochet
Notes:
- Pattern is written in US standard terms.
- Weave in ends as you work.
- The stitch count is in ( ) at end of each round.
- Work instructions in [ ] as a set.
- Pay close attention to repeats in [ ] or *.
- For the ombre shawl, fasten off at color changes.
- At the beginning of each row, you will slip stitch across the first two double crochets and into the ch2 space to start the new row. This provides a nice scalloped-edge finish for the shawl.

I think Row 26 has an error. This part doesn’t make sense to me
ch6, skip [next 2 dc, ch 1, next 2 dc], sc in next dc, ch3, skip 3 dc, sc in next st,
PatternParadise says
I’d like to help you, can you tell me what part doesn’t make sense?
Jayme says
I’m also confused about the beginning of row 26 in parentheses. Chain 6, skip [next 2 dc…then what? The pattern doesn’t say to sc in next space, it says to chain 1. Should I skip the next 2 dc and sc in the next dc?
I’m working from the free pattern, not the PDF.
PatternParadise says
The instructions indicate to skip everything in the [ ], then work the stitches as follows.
