Pin It To Save It For Later!
I like to make shawls and scarves but find keeping them in place can be a challenge. I often use brooches or shawl pins, but they can be difficult to find and sometimes quite pricey, so I’m always looking for a clever alternative. This idea came from chatting with a sewing friend who was looking for a way to close a blouse with non permanent buttons.Â
The materials for the Button Toggle are inexpensive, easy to find and likely you have everything you need already. All you will need is a decorative button (that will show on the outside) and a slightly smaller button for the inside (this one doesn’t have to be pretty at all, and of course yarn or thread to join it all together. I like to use a worsted cotton for this size toggle because I find it is sturdier.
The technique is quite simple and once you’ve completed it, you can use your Button Toggle on numerous garments! So make many and change the look of your shawl or scarf by simply swapping them out!
