Spangle Wrap Super Scarf
A month or so ago, I received this lovely, sparkly metallic yarn from Premiere Yarns. I was pretty excited as I don’t often work with novelty yarns and this one had just the right amount of glitz and glamour for the holiday season and, it was in rich shades of purple, which is my favorite color! I knew I wanted to make an elegant, dressy and lacy wrap / super scarf to wear to holiday parties and such. Although I wanted lace, I wanted a more updated lace rather than the traditional type – so this one is more geometric and edgy.
The yarn is a #3 weight, is easy to work with and has nice drape too. It comes in a wide range of variegated colors and would work well for tops, shawls, jewelry and more! The brand recommends a 4mm hook to work with this yarn, but I chose something bigger because I wanted a loose, “drapey” look for this wrap (I threw it on the back of a chair while I finished getting ready for a party and I loved how it looked draped!). I find when you want the yarn to stand out, the simpler the stitches the better. I really wanted this yarn to shine (pun intended) so I kept the stitches super easy and the repeat a simple 5 row sequence.
I made this wrap/scarf a very generous 20″ wide by 72″ long (not including fringe) but it is easily adjusted up or down by adding row repeats for the height or adjusting the beginning chain in increments of 17 for the length! I added a simple fringe for a dramatic effect – it’s the holiday season after all!
Hint: This one will work up super quick if you need a last minute wrap for a holiday party or maybe a gift.
