Tutti Frutti Clutch
This clutch feeds my addiction! You see, I’m addicted to bags, specifically crocheted bags, more specifically small crocheted clutch type bags!
This pattern started out as an entry into the CGOA Crochet Conference design competition. The theme of this conference was “Pineapple” so my plan was to make a tapestry crochet bag with two smiling pineapples wearing sunglasses (see my sketch below) on the front. Well, let’s just say it wasn’t looking the way I’d planned, so I changed the plan and made stripes and a cute colorful handle treatment and here we go — another quick bag for summer fun.
IÂ designed the bag using worsted weight cotton (#4), but I think it would work well in other fibers too. It’s a simple, basic design that’s super easy to customize. I added stripes in the center, but you could modify where and how many you add; or change up the number of colors. I was just looking for a small clutch to carry essentials, but if you want something bigger, simply add rounds to the base and work it taller too. You will have to make additional increases for each round added to the base and adjust the stitch counts, but it should be easy enough for most.
