I know, there are dozens of crochet pumpkin hat patterns out there already, but I received a special request to make one and couldn’t resist writing the pattern. So, this is my version of the fall pumpkin hat pattern, I hope you enjoy!

Materials: Worsted Weight yarn in orange and green
Hook: US H/5.00mm
Gauge: 8 hdc/6 rows = 2″
Sizes:
- Newborn – 3 MONTHS – 12-14″/5″ long
- 6-12 MONTHS – 15-16″/6″ long
- 12-18 MONTHS – 17-18″/6.5″ long
- TODDLER 19-20″/7″ long
- KIDS – 19-20″/8″ long
- ADULT- 22-23″/9″ long
Abbreviations:
- beg = beginning
- ch= chain
- FPdc = front post double crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- sc = single crochet
- tr = treble crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- st(s) = stitch(es)
Crown:
Round 1: With green, ch2, 4hdc in 2nd ch from hook, join to beg ch2. (4 hdc)
Rounds 2 – 4: Ch1, hdc in each st to end, join with sl st to beg hdc. (4 hdc)
Round 5: Ch1, 2hdc in each st, join with sl st to beg hdc. (8 hdc)
Round 6: Ch1, 2hdc in each st, join with sl st to beg hdc. (16 hdc)
Round 7: Ch1, [hdc in next st, 2hdc in next st], repeat to end, join with sl st to beg hdc. (24 hdc)
Round 8: Join orange, ch1, [FPdc and hdc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts], repeat to end, join with sl st to beg FPdc. (32Â sts)
Round 9: Ch1, [FPdc next FPdc, hdc in same st, hdc in next 3 sts], repeat to end, join with sl st to beg FPdc. (40 sts)
Round 10: Ch1, [FPdc next FPdc, hdc in same st, hdc in next 4 sts], repeat to end, join with sl st to beg FPdc. (48 sts)
Approximately 4 1/4″ in diameter. For 0-3 months, stop here and skip to sides.

Round 11: Ch1, [FPdc next FPdc, hdc in same st, hdc in next 5 sts], repeat to end, join with sl st to beg FPdc. (58 sts)
Approximately 5″ in diameter. For 6-12Â months, stop here and skip to sides.

Round 12: Ch1, [FPdc next FPdc, hdc in same st, hdc in next 6 sts], repeat to end, join with sl st to beg FPdc. (64 sts)
Approximately 5 3/4″ in diameter. For 12-18 months, stop here and skip to sides.

Round 13: Ch1, [FPdc next FPdc, hdc in same st, hdc in next 7 sts], repeat to end, join with sl st to beg FPdc. (72 sts)
Approximately 6Â 1/2″ in diameter. For Toddler/Kids, stop here and skip to sides.

Round 14:  Ch1, [FPdc next FPdc, hdc in same st, hdc in next 8 sts], repeat to end, join with sl st to beg FPdc. (80 sts)
Approximately 7Â 1/4″ in diameter. For Adult, stop here and skip to sides.

Sides:
Ch1, [FPdc in next FPdc, hdc in each hdc], repeat to end, join with sl st to beg FPdc. Repeat until hat measurement from crown to end is:
- 0-3 MONTHS – 4 1/2″ long
- 6-12 MONTHS – 5″ long
- 12-18 MONTHS – 5 1/2″ long
- TODDLER- 6″ long
- KIDS – 7″ long
- ADULTS – 8″ long
Fasten off.
Border:
Round 1: Join green, ch1, sc in each st to end, join with sl st to beg sc.
Rounds 2 to 4: Ch1, working in back loop only, sc in each st to end, join with sl st to beg sc. Fasten off after last repeat.

Garnish:
For Curls: With green, ch15, 2dc in 3rd ch from hook, 3dc in each st to end. Fasten off leaving long end to sew in place. Fasten off. sew in place on stem at top of hat.
For Leaf: Ch11, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc, dc in next 2 sts, tr in next 2 sts, dc, hdc, sc, sl st in last st; working around other side of beg ch, sc, hdc, dc, tr in next 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts, hdc, sc, Fasten off. Sew in place at top of hat.
