Sometimes, wrapping a handmade gift in a personal and attractive manner can be a little daunting. After all, you put a lot of time and love into making the gift, so doesn’t the wrapping deserve the same attention and care?  One simple and effective way is to continue the handmade theme.
For my cousin’s twin girls’ baby shower a couple of weeks ago, I struggled to find just the perfect wrap for the blankets, bonnets, booties and sweaters I had made. I contemplated putting them all in a basket and wrapping the basket in cellophane, or perhaps in a cute dual purpose container such as a baby bathtub.
In the end, I chose a box in a simple pink paper with white polka dots (very girly) and instead of a ribbon, I tied it with a crocheted chain with heart appliques at the ends. For a final touch I added a white teddy bear, with a ribbon that read “It’s a Girl” around the neck. I wrapped them in separate boxes to emphasize that while they are twins, they are individuals. I love the way they turned out and so did the Mom to be!
If you want to duplicate my ties, simply chain the length you need to wrap around the box and tie in a bow, then make two hearts and attach to the ends. There are many free heart patterns available on line, but here are two of mine:
